Reiki vs. Shamanic Healing: What's the Difference?

If you're looking for Reiki in Westminster or Carroll County, you may also be wondering about shamanic healing. Here's how the two compare, and how they work together in my sessions.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice. The practitioner places their hands on or just above the body to support relaxation and the flow of energy. Sessions are gentle, and many people come away feeling calm and lighter.

What is shamanic healing?

Shamanic healing draws on traditions found around the world. Rather than following a set sequence, the practitioner works with what's present for you, which may include journeying, soul retrieval, cord cutting, sound, sacred smoke and ceremony. My own practice is rooted in Peruvian tradition.

How they differ

Reiki tends to be steady and soothing, with a similar shape each time. Shamanic work is more varied and often looks for the root of a pattern: an old relationship you still feel tied to, a part of yourself that went quiet after a hard season, or a stuck feeling that rest alone hasn't changed.

Why I use both

In my sessions, Reiki often comes first to help the body relax and open. From there, shamanic practices let us go deeper. You don't have to choose one or the other.

Which is right for you?

For a gentle reset, an Energy Clearing (from $75) combines Reiki, sacred smoke and chakra work. If you're ready for deeper change, a Shamanic Soul Session weaves Reiki into the full range of shamanic work. Read more on the More Than Reiki page, or book a free 15-minute phone consultation.
